Indoor Sections: Air Handler Units, A-Coils and Refrigeration Lines
Air handlers, A-coils and refrigeration lines along with the outdoor unit (above table) form a complete heat pump system. Most heat pump systems use either an air handler or an A-coil. Air handlers are used when the heat pump system is the only heating system while A coils are used when the heat pump system is used in combination with a fossil fuel heating system.
Air handlers are equipped with a blower, control package and generally an electric heat package. These units don't require a separate heating system to operate. A-coils are used in conjunction with hot air furnaces. The A-coils are placed on top of the hot air furnace and use the furnace blower system to move air. Refrigerant lines connect the indoor and outdoor sections.
The following prices are estimated costs for the installation of new air handler units, A coils and refrigeration lines to replace existing equipment. We would welcome the opportunity to provide you with a specific detailed quotation for your home.
Infrequently an outdoor section is replaced without replacing the indoor unit or refrigeration lines. When just the outdoor section is replaced, it must be matched properly with the indoor section to work properly. Our staff can help you evaluate the components estimated lifespan and determine if the new outdoor unit is compatible with the existing indoor equipment.
