Planned Maintenance Programs

Heating & Cooling Planned Maintenance
Preventive maintenance is the kind of chore that is easy to forget, but it can save significant money and aggravation when performed regularly. Most machines require some cleaning and lubrication, and heating and cooling systems are no exception to this rule. When properly cared for, your cooling or heat pump system should give you at least 15 years of faithful service, while a furnace or boiler can run for as much as 20 years, or even longer.

Our Preventive Maintenance program is designed to provide regular seasonal cleaning and maintenance of heating and cooling systems, and our supplemental full service parts and labor plan also covers the cost of parts and labor in the event of most breakdowns.

Whichever plan you choose, you can be sure that you are taking the best precautions to insure that your heating or cooling system will be kept in top operating condition while giving you the best value for every dollar you spend on fuel. Click here to sign up for maintenance.

How Planned Maintenance Works
For standard heating or cooling systems, a single visit for the performance of preventive maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning is performed. At the time of this visit, we perform complete a evaluation of the system components, we exercise and check the appropriate safety controls, and we clean components in order to maximize operating efficiency during the season. Heat pump systems, which run all year round, need to have preventive maintenance performed twice each year - once for cooling operation, and again for heating operation.

In heating systems, it is estimated that as little as a 1/8 inch coating of soot on the heat exchanger can increase fuel bills by as much as 10%. In cooling and heat pump systems, an even smaller coat of dust or pollen on the outdoor coil can reduce the operating capacity of the system by 20%.

When you calculate the cost of running your heating or cooling system for the season, you will quickly see that you will save back the cost of the service in improved operating efficiency during the year.

However, there is another important reason to have your heating or cooling system serviced by a qualified professional at least once each season: safety. In a furnace or boiler, there are several safety controls designed to protect you from the risks of fire and toxic fumes should something go wrong with the heating system. Safety controls and the draft should be checked to insure that nothing has broken down during the off-season.

With cooling systems (which are more vulnerable to off-season damage), you want to insure that all built-in protective devices are working so that the cooling will work on the first day you need it.

Therefore, once each year, we check all of the components which make up your heating or cooling system to discover parts which aren't working properly so that you don't have a failure in the middle of the night or on the first hot day. If a problem is detected at the time of the inspection, we will let you know, and the repair can be made on a planned basis.

It is important to point out that parts that are working properly at the time of an inspection can still fail later in the season. Having a heating or cooling checkout does not guarantee that there will not be any future part failures.

Still, just as with your car, money invested in keeping your furnace, boiler, or cooling system clean and lubricated will pay off in longer life and more reliable operation. This is why all customers who purchase an annual inspection receive a standard discount on parts and labor for repairs done during the subsequent months of that season.

Additional restrictions in coverage and liability are listed on the Agreement Form, and apply to all Preventive Maintenance and Full Service (Parts and Labor) Agreements.
